->> 1. a. An actor commits a crime of the third degree if, knowing that he is not licensed or privileged to do so, he photographs, films, videotapes, records, or otherwise reproduces in any manner the image of a child, without the consent of the child's parent or guardian and under circumstances in which a reasonable parent or guardian would not expect his child to be the subject of such reproduction.
How do you get 'licensed' to take photos? For that matter "or otherwise reproduces in any manner?" so I can't sketch the scene either??? So if this bill were to pass, all of the kids on the sidelines would have to have signed permission slips to take photos of their friends playing hoops? Just one more stupid knee jerk reaction, but in this case the wording is SO SO SO vague as to make it ridiculously easy to defeat in court. |

->> Hopefully they'll solicit the opinion and input of newspaper photo staff before they even *think* about implementing such a a broad - and unworkable (IMO) - mandate.
Am I asking for too much? |

->> Eric: "How do you get 'licensed' to take photos?"
I smell an attempt to generate revenue - perhaps something along the lines of:
"If you want to operate freely as a photographer, just apply for our license (and pay the fee) and - when challenged - just produce your license and you'll not face our ire."
Wouldn't surprise me in the least. |

->> This is an attempt (a poor one) to protect kids. In this day and age I just don't know how you can target the dirty old man without scooping in the kids and other parents on the sidelines too.
How do you even begin to try to take photos of your kids at the beach or pond without getting all of the OTHER kids in the background???? I mean seriously I took both my kids to Six Flags when they were young and have hours of video of them in the tide pool, the water slides, etc. There has to be 75 or 100 other kids (and adults too) in those scenes. Going forward parents can't shoot video at the public pool unless they run around and get permission from all of the other parents who's kids may end up in the background?
The SADDEST thing is that THIS is what politicians have time to focus their attention on. THIS because while they are wasting their time on something like this they aren't having to figure ways of dealing with the mess our country is in while still protecting the cronies that fill their war chests. And that is an equal opportunity rant at both sides.
This one should be easy enough for Judge Judy to shoot down. |

| ->> It seems as though if a politician can't do anything worthwhile and intelligent for their constituents then the next best thing is to shovel crap out the front door in an attempt to at least appear as though their doing something. They'd be better off to pass legislation allowing you to club the old pervert. As for getting licensed, you must send your licensing submissions to Chuck Liddy. It't the only way to get a legit license. |

Damn right you are.
Everyone here (SportsShooter) that lives in New Jersey or knows someone that lives in New Jersey should email their state representative and complain about this proposal RIGHT AWAY.
Call you Mom and Dad, your Uncle and your Aunt. |
