->> Like a lot of members here I've been very frustrated as I watch my friends get laid off from their newspaper jobs while the rest of us play musical chairs with what's left. At the same time, the media I used to love for its in-depth human interest stories and documentary projects has been reduced to news snippets and event coverage.
I still think people crave cool stories and projects so out of my frustration I am putting together a website where I hope to be able to showcase personal projects, photography, writing, art and video. I don't know if it will work but it's worth a try for me because I think it would be cool to see what good journalists really are capable of doing despite what's happening to my industry.
The difference with this site would be that it isn't just one person's work - it's everybody's work - publishing one project a day and then sharing it over social media. I think it would be a cool way to feed the hunger that many of us have for work that makes a difference.
