2 Games at the same time and sorting images?

->> I am wondering what is the best way to cover two games at the same time and then make it easy to sort the images after.
Just today the HS I cover had a boys Lax game going on at the same time the Girls were playing on the field beside the boys. I can easly stand between the two and rotate and even with a 300/2.8 have no problems getting the distance needed for many shots.
I have also done this at the LL fields I cover a 500mm in center field of both fields rotate around and cover two games at the same time.
I am sure I am not alone... is there a way to change between the CF card and SD card easily on a mark II, IIN, IV? or another way to save time at the office?

->> It is pretty easy to switch between the CF and SD cards on the MIV. Hold the FUNC. button and flick the top dial back and forth.
It doesn't sound like it would be too difficult to sort in post though even on one card. |

| ->> Try a color code or rating for one of the games when you do your review and then do a sort for your edits. |

->> If you want to create a visual barrier between the girls game and the boys game, put something over the front of your lens (hat, small towel, etc) and shoot five or six dark frames just before turning around and switching games.
When you are looking at a "thumbnail" page in Photomechanic or whatever browser you prefer, you would have an immediately recognizable visual reference for when you changed sides.
In physically swapping cards in cameras or between two cards in the same camera you run the risk of forgetting to to do this and then having partial games on multiple cards and having to sort all of that out when you are editing. |

->> Are you limited to just one body? If not, shoot one body for the boys and one for the girls. Then in PhotoMechanic sort your images by filename. Rename the boys group and then rename the girls files.
Only have one body? You could create two folders in-camera and switch between folders. With the IIN and above bodies you can name the folders on the card "Boys" and "Girls". Then use the appropriate folder for the game you are shooting at the time. Takes about about 5 seconds to switch from one folder to the other and a lot less hassle than switching bodies on off a lens.

| ->> Like Michael's comment above - I shoot a few frames of the sky as I switch between fields. I've tried switching cards but if you forget once, you are then in trouble. |

->> Jim, if you are not tagging images why not just tag the start of each set ? (even if you forget immediately and don't have time to chimp for the first of that match you can tag the next image and that will give you a guide that somewhere just before that image you changed which match you was covering)
Once back at the office you can highlight all tagged images and give them a colour label to show start points. Using something like red or yellow will make them jump out of the page. A quick check will show if you was late tagging so you can adjust that sections start point. You can then label each match / set as you wish and then edit each by selecting just that colour.
This will also mean that you do not have to buy stocks of SD cards if you mainly use CF. |

->> Guys,
Thanks for the options!! In cases like this I only use one body, not because I don't have another body or two but don't have two 300's.
I like the different folder option and will try this out and maybe the in camera settings of change of cards from the CF to SD, as well.
I use the method of taking three grass pictures to seperate games but want to be as efficient as possible and do not want to transfer then sort after the fact. Even the seperators would help but there would be alot!
If I can do this at the games it saves me a step later even if it is small it is still step and as busy as I am I need efficiency!!!
