Getty Images wants contract changes

->> According to a posting on Editorial Photographers, Getty Images is looking at changing its contract with contributing photographers to increase its flexibility in servicing its clients and gain market share.
Instead of photographers mandating all or certain images being marketed as rights-managed thereby earning the shooters long term royalties, Getty wants to move RM images to royalty free, subscription services and multimedia models anytime it wants without any say-so from the photographer. While this will allow Getty to freely move content from one platform to another to satisfy its clients -- and thereby increase its revenue and profits -- doing so will signficantly erode the royalties paid to the makers of the content.
APA has retained a law firm to look into the matter. |
