->> Congrats to two really good guys and two fine photographers. My suggestion is that John give up Chicago-style hot dogs for Wisconsin-style cheese...which is virtually ANY kind of cheese...and Gary give up cheese for hot dogs...without cheese.
Seriously, what's really nice here is that two Midwest newspapers, both struggling for readership, both struggling to remain relevent in the world of the internet, both struggling just to stay alive...have won Pulitzer Prizes for good, old fashioned newspaper journalism.
Well done to the photographers and the writers. These stories are exactly why some of us still love to get ink on our hands every morning as we drink our coffee. |

->> yippppeeeee. hey, thanks for these words, everyone. i feel like a hundred bucks(!) i'd feel like a thousand bucks right now if it wasn't for an earlier mixture of gin-and-tonic's and black-and-tan's, prefaced by champagne and other bubbly drinks.
thank you for the kind words. good, old fashioned newspaper journalism is a wonderful thing, and we're all damn lucky if we still have jobs in this line of work. even though i gripe and moan along with the rest of us about the shrinking news hole and all it entails, journalism is a freedom we can't take for granted; and i am very fortunate to play a tiny part of telling the stories that happen in our community.
thanks again. drive fast, take chances.
