->> Hi,
Does anyone know the dimensions of various lens hoods for the different models of Canon 400mm 2.8 lens or where I can find the details?
I have the first model of the 400mm and the hood has seen better days and I've patched it up as much as I can. I can get a replacement one secondhand for a decent price but it is for the IS model and I wondered if there was any variation in the diameter of the lenses before I jump in an purchase it?
Any help appreciated.

->> I'm not sure of the dimensions but I know that the IS hood will not fit the Non-IS lens. You should take a look at the AquaTech soft hood. I have heard good things about them.

| ->> I had the same issue with the 300mm 2.8 and stuck and elastic band around the lip of the lens and the hood which was the IS hood fitted nicely so wondering if it is that the IS hood on the 400mm 2.8 is slightly bigger as well and I could do the same thing? |

->> 400mm IS - 163mm x 349mm
400mm Non-IS - 167mm x 348mm
Judging just by the lens dimensions themselves I'm going to have to guess that the IS hood will be to small to fit the non-is. |
