->> Hello all,
I am shooting a wedding soon and was wondering if anyone had used one of the battery packs on Flash Zebra seen here, http://flashzebra.com/products/0153/index.shtml
I had hoped to be able to get an Einstein to use for this, but money just hasn't panned out so I'll be shooting with my sb's, nothing I haven't done before, but my old quantum is on the fritz so I'll need to figure something out fast.
Thanks |

| ->> I've never heard of those but I use the Nikon SD-8As all the time to power 3-4 SB-28s and I've been able to get over 600+ photos with the SBs at 1/2 power for sporting events and shows. |

| ->> I've used that product for canon and have had no problems with it. There were just some little differences between that one and the canon product, but they both work great. For like half the price I wish I had bought the flashzebra product before the canon one. |

->> I use two of them them with Nikon SB800's off-camera ... works fine for manual settings and PW's to trigger ... don't work well using CLS ... for whatever reason when the speedlights are triggered by the master, the external pack won't kick in to charge the unit ... but like I said, in manual mode using PW's as triggers ... works wonderfully and much less expensive than the SD-8A ... you can buy two of them for less than a single SD-8A ...
I haven't tried the model for the SB900 ... this unit no longer needs the the PC dongle to trigger the charging circuitry ... so it should be fine for working CLS with thew SB900 ... |

| ->> If I'm reading the product blurb correctly, the Zebra takes two more batteries than the Nikon version. To my mind, that should equate to even more capacity, yes? Sounds like a deal. I hear my tax return diminishing even before it gets here! I use SB28's on PW a la Strobist, so these would fit in my kit well. How big/heavy are they? I've already got so much stuff in the kit I'm thinking of hiring a sherpa to just follow me around and tote my crap! |

| ->> Andrew ... They only weigh a few ounces ... Very easy to work with ... Plenty of power ... I can get 2-3 full HS/college hoops games on a set of AAs ... |

| ->> Butch - Thanks. Do they have some way to attach/hang them from a light stand or clamp or would I have to juryrig something? |

| ->> Yes, the pouch velcro straps to hang on a stand, and a loop that can be used on a belt for on-camera flash use if desired ... as well as the 1/4 20 thumbscrew for a variety of attachment methods ... |
