audio level/different computers/compensating

->> I just finished a video on my WinXP desktop with Vegas with the audio at about 50%. I uploaded the video and before making it live I checked it out on my Win7 laptop. The audio is ok on the laptop but even with it turned up 100% isnt nearly as loud as it would be on the desktop at 100%.
Is there a method (beyond some $$$ decibel level machine) to figure out how to set an audio level that is going to work for different computers. Not sure if I am explaining this right or not. Basically I want to make sure the audio I've got on my computers is going to be at a level where if someone needed to turn it up they could but I also don't want to make them deaf when the video starts.
Make any sense? |

->> Erik,
Does your editing software indicate audio levels in decibels (dB) ? If so, try setting your average peaking to -12 dB. Do not allow any peaks to exceed 0 dB or the audio will be clipped.
