| ->> NICE! Thanks for that link! I already have the X2 card and heard this was coming. This will make life much easier! |

| ->> It does look promising but here's my less than well informed question...how the heck do I get the files to my laptop for editing/backup afterward? I have been trying to use my LogMeIn app to do this and it seems like it might be viable. The X2 would be even better since I wouldn't have to connect the camera at any point to move files from camera to Ipad to a remote computer (mine or an editor). Sound like I might be on the right track? |

| ->> I like the idea that it will finally support direct transfers to the iPad in the field. People have been asking for this since the EYE-FI cards were first announced. The only way to accomplish this in the past was to have a portable WIFI router. Every week there are more and more reasons for me to want an iPad. |

->> The firmware update for X2 cards came out today. This enables the Eye-Fi card to spawn an access point which your mobile device can connect to.
Jerome - Yes, you can set the card to only send images that are set to 'lock'. |

| ->> James have you used it? Does it work well and fast provided it is 3G? |

->> 3G doesn't enter into it as the transfers only work over Wi-Fi.
But yeah, it works. It's not speedy, but it works. |

->> James
I was told by the Rep at WPPI this year that it would work over 3G on my android... are you sure this is not the case? I was actually considering buying it just for that purpose when shooting remote venues.
Thanks... Chris |

->> I'm sure, yes. The chip in the Eye-Fi card is not a cellular chip.
Why would you need it to be 3G anyway? I'm confused.
What it does now is create a Wi-Fi access point that your smartphone signs into. Once that connection is made, you can select the images from your camera that you wish to send to your phone. A cellular signal isn't needed as all the communications between the Eye-Fi card and your smartphone are done via Wi-Fi. The difference with this update is now you aren't required to bring a router with you to make it all happen. |

| ->> Sorry - I was the one who was confused. The software on the droid that they have created by eyefi to manage the incoming files is what I thought you were talking about... I thought you were saying that the droid/iphone could not sync to an online gallery via cellular - only with wifi. Some apps are like that (skype for instance will only allow voice calls via cellular signal)... |
