| ->> I just stopped by my local Verizon dealer and upgraded my 3G MiFi to the new Samsung 4G MiFi and the data plan is $10 cheaper than my 3G plan. Very fast too. Haven't tested on Speakeasy.com, because it's flash based and my iPad doesn't support flash. But, so far it's uploading web pages very fast. |

->> @Mark:
If you are looking for a good alternative, try www.speedtest.net. They have their site, along with apps for both iOS and Android. Results would be nice to know. |

->> I finally arrived home and in my basement with a very bad signal on speakeasy.com the results are: Download Speed 8.6 Mbps, Upload Speed 0.39 Mbps. (4 year old MacBook Pro)
Disclaimer: I drop a lot of calls in the basement, but still fast. |

| ->> 5G data cap for 50 bucks or 10G data cap for 80 bucks does not seem to be a good deal. on 4G speed you can use that up in no time |

->> Juerg, I use my card to stream radio/music for by bus ride to and from work on my iPad. Along with surfing the net and the occasional download of a magazine from either Zinio or SI. I also transmit images to clients after shoots and prefer to use my MiFi instead of the hotel's, cafe's or bar's WiFi because my MiFi is much safer.
Plus I can use it on any devise I own that needs a WiFi connection to operate. With all that, I barely break 3 G's with constant use with most of that coming from sending zipped jpeg images to clients via "Mail Big File". I love the setup and would not trade the security it provides for the world. But that's just me.
Not to mention the iPad 3'g are only 3'g where my WiFi version is much quicker now and when I'm home I turn the MiFi off. |

->> I just got a 4g mifi yesterday and it is FAST over 4g. Compared to my previous 3g express card it blows the doors off and it's faster than my home ATT service. At home I have a basic plan of about 6mbps download and about 1 mbps upload.
I was getting 14 download and 9 upload when running the same test with the 4g.
Obviously it's not going to be used for everyday home use, but will make transmitting from the field much, much easier. FAST |
