->> I will be upgrading a Macbook Pro that is currently operating 10.4 (tiger I believe) to the latest snow leopard OS. I purchased the 2gb ram so that is maxed out. I also purchased the Mac Box Set. I was wondering if anybody has any experience doing this and if so do they have any tips to help save me from any headaches. I currently have everything backed up to DVD's, an external hard drive, as well as my photo shelter account. so as far as that is all concerned I should be set there. My biggest question is what about photo mechanic. I purchased photo mechanic about a year and a half ago by downloading it directly from camera bits. If I trash everything on the mac how will I reload photo mechanic?
Thanks in advance for any help |

| ->> Are you going to do an erase and install or simply an upgrade installation? |

| ->> I was thinking of doing an erase and install. I figured that would give me the next best thing to buying a new mac. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong |

->> You can download past versions of photo mechanic from their webpage. Just make sure to save your serial number.

Also, just to let you know, you don't have to buy the hundred and something dollar upgrade from apple, the $29 Snow Leopard upgrade disc works exactly the same.
Hope that helps. |

| ->> Would the $29 snow leopard upgrade disc still allow me to do an erase and install? I was kind of hoping to wipe out everything and start over new. I was looking at the box set and noticed it had a lot of extras that I don't ever see my self using. |

| ->> I believe you need to be running 10.g for the snow leopard disc to work |

->> The snow leopard disc will work. Apple markets that you should buy the more expensive version, but is the exact same thing. The disc will allow you to do an erase and install.
These directions should guide you through.

| ->> Some of the programs you might be using (Titanium Toast 6 for example) won't work with Snow Leopard and you'll have to pay for a few upgrades. |

| ->> The $29.00 upgrade disk is only for upgrading from Leopard and not Tiger. Tiger can be upgraded from the full version of Snow Leopard that is included in the Box Set. Why not just wait 6 months and upgrade to Lion? |
