| ->> And after a bummer thread on "action Sales", this is proof that I will keep paying my $25 per year for ss.com. Thanks to all! |

| ->> One time at band camp, someone accused me of doing something that I didn't do and so I asked around to see who might have been the one to accuse me of that thing and sure enough, I figured it all out and now me and that guy aren't talking. |

->> What about when your shutter is replaced? A couple of years ago I had my shutter replaced on a D2H. I had only used it a handful of times and at most it would have had 10,000 shots on the new shutter. It was basically a paper weight. Then I sold it to a friend of mine. The first time he took it out the shutter went out on it. Nikon wouldn't replace the shutter for free because it was past a year (if I remember correctly), but it definitely should not have gone out.
So is there a way to remedy this situation by the numbers? |

->> Jason I could be wrong but the replacement shutter would have been warranted to you for 180 days. The warranty doesn't pass on to the next buyer. This is true whether you are looking to get service under the NPS 180 day repair warranty OR on used gear that is bought and sold within the manufacture's warranty period. So when you see a 2 year old lens and you think that there are 3 years left you are in for a rude surprise if you have to send it in.
The only thing that you could have done, ethics be damned, would have been to take the camera back and send it in as a re-do on the original SO#.
When my D3's have come back with new shutters the actuation counts have been reset to zero. |

->> Just an additional note,
If you are on a Mac, you can open a Nikon .jpg in preview, press cmd+I click on the Nikon tab and actuations are listed there. |

->> Sorry to hijack the thread, but after reading Eric's comment "When my D3's have come back with new shutters the actuation counts have been reset to zero." I thought back to my film cameras. I never heard anything about replacing a shutter on those, Canon or Nikon.
Are the shutter blades weaker now for a reason? My first 1D hasn't had a problem, but I've replaced (well, the paper has) three shutters on my MK II's and I have another sitting with a blown shutter waiting to get the OK for the repair. And I am not a heavy shooter.
Anyone heard anything about modern shutters? |
