->> I am always looking for metaphors when teaching photography. This is my latest way of teaching photographers how to treat subjects in their photos and how to treat their clients.
Here are my thoughts in more detail in my blog today: http://blog.stanleyleary.com/2011/03/good-photographers-play-checkers-while...
What metaphors do you use when you are teaching photography to others? |

->> Stanley - Nice metaphor, and one I've seen employed to illustrate the difference between tactics and strategy.
Most memorably, and almost unfortunately (considering the character who's saying it, and what he comes to stand for in the context of the movie "Training Day") seen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gafALL-R1nI (not for the faint of heart or hearing or for those easily offended and definitely not work safe).
I enjoyed your use of checkers and chess to describe the different approaches to photography. Thanks for sharing. |

->> I don't think it's really a metaphor, but I always repeat to interns a really good Robert Capa quote:
"If your pictures aren't good enough, you're not close enough."
I think it says a lot. |
