If You're Looking For An ExpressCard34 CF Card Reader...

->> Wanting a spare to my Delkin eFilm compact flash card reader (version 1) that worked just fine with Mac OSX Snow Leopard I found that the new "high speed" ExpressCard34 readers just would not work with 10.6.
Drivers were installed and uninstalled, a few different units were tried (including the current Delkin and the SanDisk Extreme) and nothing seemed to work. Message boards and reviews warned of kernel panic crashes and ruined MacBook Pros.
I found one at MacSales (http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Apiotek/ECCF3U/) that works perfectly with Snow Leopard with no drivers and no problems.
Recommended. |

| ->> Jim - I had some problems with Sandisk ExpressCard CF reader. I experienced the kernel panics you mentioned on a 2010 MBP. Older MBP might still experience the same issue. However, that was fixed with a Sandisk driver update. I have also used the Lexar Expresscard with no problems. It didn't require a driver. I like it a little better than the Sandisk because it has more of a slot to guide the card into the pins. O |

| ->> Michael - As far as I know, there is no driver for the Lexar card reader. It appears that the readers are not compatible with older macs. |

->> I don't think this can be used with a 15" 2009 Macbook Pro running OS X 10.6.6, can it?
What is the best/fastest choice for me? I've been doing searches and trying to choose the best one for my MBP to replace my old USB2 reader -- which would then be a back-up.
I have a SanDisk Extreme III 4GB card that just will not show up using the reader that I have -- a SanDisk USB2.
Any suggestions, please? |

I'm using it on a 2011 17" MacBook Pro running OSX 10.6.7. |
