->> My version does not work with the RAW files, so I shoot jpeg for speed of workflow. I can view the RAW image, but it will not convert. If I need a RAW file conversion, I just use the Nikon software that came with the camera. Of course, it may not be a PhotoMechanic problem, it could be my older version of PhotoShop (CS3). I probably need to fix this, in the future, but I wanted to let you know about it.

->> Photmechanic can see the files but if you don't have CS5 photoshop can't open the raw files. You have to use the Adobe DNG converter to work with the raw files. I use the jpegs for deadline work then go back and use converted DNG files for my archives.

->> The DNG converter is free. It does add a step to the work flow but once you convert the raw NEF files to DNG, you can use the photo mechanic to camera raw work flow as usual. The D-7000 has two cards and one can be set for jpeg and the other for RAW. I do it that way so jpegs can be used for quick deadlines and the RAW for Archiving later.
