->> Should explain, there are many PowerPC programs from Adobe and Canon, and possibly Nikon that won't be supported since Mac seems to be dropping Rosetta Stone from Lion. I know Lion isn't out yet, but forewarned is fore armed.

->> There is another way to check to see if you have any old PowerPC code software running on your Mac. Open every program that you use, open Activity Monitor, and click on the column for Kind. This will sort the programs by whether they are PowerPC or Intel.

The only PowerPC code that is still running on my machine is two pieces of code from Western Digital for controlling the light on a WD My Book HD. WDBMService and WD Button Manager. From what I have read they do not affect the operation of the drive and can be deleted.

I have also read that minimum hardware is a Core 2 Duo machine or higher.

->> I don't even bother to upgrade my Mac's OS unless and until there's something that I really need in the new one. My old MacBook Pro and iMac are still happily running 10.5.8.

My new MacBook Pro (17 inch!) has 10.6.6 installed and it's running smoothly but I can't see upgrading to 10.7 until it offers something I just cannot live without.

Trailing edge technology. It works.

->> Rosetta Stone is the leading language-learning software in the world, not the same as Rosetta.

From wikipedia: Rosetta is a lightweight dynamic translator for Mac OS X distributed by Apple. It enables applications compiled for the PowerPC family of processors to run on Apple systems that use Intel processors. Rosetta is based on Transitive Corporation's QuickTransit technology,[1] and it is a key part of Apple's strategy for the transition of their Macintosh line from PowerPC to Intel processors as it enables pre-existing Mac OS X software to run on the new platform without modification.
