->> If you swipe your card now your new % is 2.75. They used to also charge you 15 cents I believe, that is now gone.

Not bad IMHO

Looks like a good option to offer.

You can offer either. I just carry my swiper with me in my camera bag.

->> Three options I'm looking at:

Square: There are no activation, gateway, monthly, early termination, or hidden fees.
2.75% for swiped transactions
3.5% + 15ยข for keyed-in transactions
http://squareup.com

Costco's partnership with Elavon:
$4.95 monthly statement fee, waived with Executive membership
1.48% + .20 cents per transaction
http://www.elavon.com/acquiring/costco

www.gopaynet.com and
http://www.appstorehq.com/creditcardprocessingwithsignature-iphone-243119/a...
2.19% (was 1.59%)
.25 cents per transaction
$10 monthly fee

->> I like the squareup.com fee structure, but I am a Blackberry user and their system apparently only works on iPhone and Android based systems.

Is there a PC program or website based system for squareup, or would I have to figure out a way to use an iPhone or Android emulation program to run the squareup app on a PC (not sure that this would even work)?

I just canceled my merchant account with East Commerce Solutions after the monthly fees increased to $50 per month point and they tacked on a $175 annual PCI compliance fee. $775 is a lot to spend each year for credit card processing when there are less expensive options available.

I shoot a lot of events when people ask me to "send them the photo" so now I'll whip out my iphone, swipe their card and send the purchased file once I edit.

->> I would like to thank everyone who participated in this thread. After cutting ties with East Commerce Solutions and their end of the year surprise $175 PCI compliance fee I have signed up with Intuit's GoPayment. http://gopayment.com . This is not to be confused with the previously mentioned company at www.gopaynet.com (different company)

GoPayment charges 2.7% per transaction if the card is swiped through a reader and 3.5% if it is keyed in by hand and there is no annual PCI fee (take THAT, East Commerce Solutions) and no monthly fees. Like SquareUP, GoPayment provides a free card reader for your smart phone.

I chose this option over SquareUp because I have been a Blackberry user for three years and SquareUp only works with iPhone and some Android based systems. Moving away from Blackberry was not something that I wanted to do at this point.

After dumping East Commerce Solutions, I am going to save a LOT more than the $25 I pay for Sports Shooter each year. Had it not been for this thread, it would have required a lot more digging to find a better solution for my credit card processing needs.

Thanks again, everyone!
