->> I want to install a remote camera on a fence post and need a clamp that I can use with a magic arm. Regular super clamps will not open wide enough. Need something that will open up to 3-4 inches.
Thanks for your ideas. |

->> Rick:
I've tried C-clamps and other mods from the hardware store. What I'm really looking for is a "super clamp" style grip that will open to 3-4 inches and has a receiver socket for one end of the magic arm.
Thanks. |

| ->> Kevin, I'm curious as to why a c-clamp didn't work. I used one last night on a basketball goal which was just a little too big for the magic arm clamp. it worked great. in fact it was much more stable than the magic arm had ever been. if you really feel you need to spend some money buy a c-clamp and have a welder weld the receiver posts to the clamp...I know a couple of guys who have done this. of course, for the most part the receiver arm sometimes WON'T be in the exact spot you need it to be....good luck |

| ->> Chuck -- Didn't say they didn't work. Just wanted to know if a larger jaw super clamp existed. I'd like to get away from using a clamp just to have something to clamp on to. |

->> Clark - the avenger grab clamp only opens to 2 1/2 inches if I'm not mistaken.
An easy solution is to simply drill a 1/4 in. hole in the handle of a c-clamp or proper size U-bolt and attach a stud to it with a 1/4 in. bolt. Bogen makes studs with both 1/4 and 5/16 female threads. Then just screw a standard male threaded stud to that and you're good to go.
Otherwise Cullman makes a universal clamp with a 3 1/4 in.throat. |
