I have a two month old 7D with firmware 1.2.3, and I just encountered the corrupt file problem on my SanDisk Extreme 16gb 60MB/s UDMA card. The first two files on the card, which had just been formatted prior to filming, don't have thumbnail previews and won't open in QT or FinalCut. The next 20 .mov files are fine. Then I have another 8 or so at the end of the card that are corrupt. I switched to a Kingston 133x 4gb card once the SanDisk was full, and all of the .mov files turned out fine. The error message I get when trying to open the video files either says "The movie is not in a format that QuickTime Player understands" or "The movie could not be opened."
There appears to be a list of shooters on this thread that have experienced a similar problem: http://www.cinema5d.com/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=15384&st=0&sk=t&sd=a
I tried a program called Treasured that can analyze the video files, and for a fee, can recover the video data. I just want to narrow down whether this is a problem with my CF card or with the camera.
If anyone else has a better suggestion for recovering video data, my ears are open. I tried the bundled RescuePro software with no luck. |
