FTP to Mobile Me

| ->> This is one of those questions where you either know the answer or you don't... and I don't. I have used Transmit to send pictures to a public folder on my own Mobile Me space. I need to allow two other photographers to be able to do the same, both of whom use Photo Mechanic to FTP pictures. Are their settings for PM that allow FTP to Mobile Me or are they going to have to use the web interface or buy Transmit? Like all photographers, both of them are anxious to a) keep costs down and b) work the way that they are used to. |

->> I think this is possible for them to just use a browser (may not work with some browsers on mobile devices) by setting up guest access to your public folder ... though you should set a password for this ...

I'm not familiar with PM's FTP capabilities, but I would assume that you should be able to access your mobile me account with the proper address and password ..
Secondly, if need be, and your friends are using Mac OS X, they can access your mobile me public folder right from the Finder ...
From the Finder Menu>Go>iDisk>Other User's Public Folder ... they enter your mobile me info and your public folder password ... then drag and drop the files as though they were on your desktop ... |

| ->> Thanks Butch... we had all of the finder and browser options covered but we wanted to FTP from within Photo Mechanic if possible. What the FTP address for the public folder is, is not obvious. Testing the browser based upload was a lot slower than doing it with Transmit and speed will be important on the night. |

->> Neil ... not sure if PM can do this via FTP ... I was doing some reading and Mobile Me uses WebDAV ... I know there was a support discussion thread fro awhile back where they mentioned looking into adding support for WebDAV .. not sure if it was added ...
If you create a folder in your iDisk Public folder for your friends to add files, you can get the location address and set a password ... try a test and inputing that info into PM to see if it can work for you ... more info here:

->> Just in case anyone is interested, it cannot be done. I have submitted a 'feature request' with Kirk at Camerabits to add a Mobile Me upload so if anyone else would like this feature, go onto the Camerabits forum and add a 'me too'!
We will be using the web browser route for now but would still prefer to go with Photo Mechanic.
