| ->> What are people using for slide shows that is as easy as Iphoto but has more bells and whistles? |

| ->> Aperture has a really powerful slideshow tool built that lets you incorporate video with your pictures. Aperture is quite a step up from iPhoto, same similar tools but much better. Download the trial on Apples website or check it out on the Mac App Store. |

Adobe Lightroom or Aperture would be my choice. |

| ->> I am assuming you are only using a MAC but if not the best software out there is Pro Show Producer. Have been using this for several years and frankly is the only thing keeping me from switching to a MAC full time |

->> Aperture offers by far more options for slideshows than Lightroom ... though I am a big fan of LR, Ap 3 is much better in this aspect ...
For a stand alone affordable option for Mac, take a look at Fotomagico. The home edition is available through the OS X App Store (Mac OS X 10.6.6) for $28.99 or the full featured Pro app from their site is $149.
Animoto is a great option especially if you don't have the time or inclination to create your own from scratch ... |

->> thanks all. I hate to buy LR or Aperture just for doing slideshows but I agree
Iphoto does suck..I want to punch babies everytime I use it.
Anyway, I will look at fotomagico and appreciate any other ideas out there. |

| ->> It may be overkill, but I use Final Cut Express HD for my audio slideshows. It gives me a lot of freedom and a lot of tools. The quality is outstanding if you export it in the H.264 format. I sometimes use LiveType for intro or outtro scenes. I use FCE on my MacBook pro and it works grreat! It has lots of audio layers for all your audio needs. |

->> Brett, honestly, iMovie is a much, much better slideshow program than iPhoto. Give it a shot as it is a) free, and b) already running on your system if you've got iPhoto...
I've used it here for a marketing piece for my book: http://vimeo.com/13891759 and for many other personal slideshow projects.
The original version of Angela and Ithyle's Amazon Kindle stop-action animated commercial was also strung together in iMovie, too http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mj5Jr0QWNMA , and the distinctive choppiness of this great piece relates to the fact that iMovie can handle "only" 10 still frames per second.
You can narrate a track right in iMovie, or drag-drop (or go through iTunes browser) for an existing audio file on your computer.
Good luck! |

->> Oh yeah, one important thing to note:
On Export, select Share>Export via QuickTime for more advanced sizing and encoding options than that silly device-and-intent-based interface... |

| ->> another vote for iMovie, I did a nice presentation on our tugboat with historic photos and renovation photos, put a soundtrack on it and was able to burn it to a DVD and play it anywhere. Easy to use and it was already loaded on my macbook pro. |
