Battery Pack LP-E4

->> So there are many discussions on this board about third party batteries for the Mark IIn and lower Canon cameras. Are there any thoughts on these third party batteries for the Mark IV (Battery Pack LP-E4) ?

Which are good? Which are bad? Likes, dislikes, etc.

->> Stew with the battery performance of the newer cameras I would just by a factory battery because you are only going to need one, if that. I've shot many 8-9 hour events without any problems. It is nice to have a MIII back up to my MIV now but I still have not bought an extra battery. I had two spares when I had my MIIn.

->> I bought a Calumet LP-E4 few months back and I returned it the day after. The battery works fine. But I find the fitting around the cap to be too lose as there was this noticeable gap around the battery slot. The latch would not stay in its place. To keep it short I returned it and ordered a genuine Canon LP-e4

->> I know the battery life is great on the factory batteries, but I always have a spare/back up. You never know what might happen. I dropped my Mark IIn once. It hit the floor right on the battery, breaking the latch off. If I didn't have a back up battery to stick in, I would have been SOL.

->> I always had excellent experiences with the Lenmar's for my II's and IIN's, so I bought their mkIII replacement as a backup. It never seemed to show the proper levels when I checked battery status and after less than 9 months of very light usage, it simply quit taking a charge. To their credit they replaced it for free.

I bought a Wasabi brand and had no issues with it.
