I've shot many 8-9 hour events without any problems. It is nice to have a MIII back up to my MIV now but I still have not bought an extra battery. The battery works fine. But I find the fitting around the cap to be too lose as there was this noticeable gap around the battery slot. The latch would not stay in its place. You never know what might happen. I dropped my Mark IIn once. It hit the floor right on the battery, breaking the latch off. It never seemed to show the proper levels when I checked battery status and after less than 9 months of very light usage, it simply quit taking a charge. To their credit they replaced it for free.
