->> Haven't shot through the holes in Toronto before - wondering what the setup was and just how he hit to create this damage - http://yfrog.com/h4lvluj to his face. Accounts say he missed a hit on a player and hit the hole.
Hoping it is seen as an extreme fluke or something different about holes there and doesn't result in a backlash against having them (unlikely at top levels, but not at smaller). Don't mean for this to sound uncaring about him, looks awful and I feel bad for him even if he is a Leaf. Even worse that he didn't get to celebrate his third career goal scored earlier in the game. |

| ->> Since when did hockey players care about getting hurt? Getting rid of the holes just because one of them got hurt would make them all look like a bunch of wusses, isn't it bad enough they make them wear helmets now? These are guys who are proud not to have front teeth! ;) |

| ->> I was sitting at the hole right next to this one at the game. Photo looks nastier than I remember in person. The collision with the boards didn't seem abnormal, we were caught off guard when he got up all bloody. He was not wearing a visor (I believe he is an AHL call up, in the AHL visors are mandatory). His nose must have come down on the edge of the hole. I've never seen anything like it before. Several players have been injured from coming down on the lip of the boards and the glass before, which is a couple inches below the hole. |

->> Juliann - I've heard too many "worries" from rink guys about stuff that doesn't ever happen that makes them worry about putting in or keeping holes that I can totally see some of them saving this image to argue against them.
Chuck - I think the other image (only shows as a thumbnail now) might actually be worse. |

->> From Darren Dreger of TSN (http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/dregerreport/):
"NHL sources say minimizing or eliminating these holes will be further discussed by Hockey Operations and at least two policy memos specific to addressing this issue - as well as the still cameras in the back of each net - are currently in play." |
