->> it looks like it's going to need a lot of work... it's slow and it keeps locking up....
Like with a lot of these guys, ...let the user find the problems |

->> I've not had any issues ... I've been in the app several times since lunch and it has done well ... a few hesitations with streaming video ... but that is to be expected as I am sure the traffic is pretty intense with so many testing it out ...
I have to say so far I am impressed with the app for a first issue ... I'm it will improve to an even better product as they receive more feedback fro users ... |

| ->> Mine crashed twice...and it's definitely slow on my iPad. It's not as polished as the USA Today app. |

->> Okay I have been reading this now since it came out.
A few things,
1. Was not ready for primetime
2. Crashes every single time it goes to update. It crashes, I load it again and it will finally stay there and get the update, though I have had it crash again.
3. Very slow animations, maybe it was built for the ipad2?
4. Great price, if it gets fixed a little I would support the "paper" for only 4 dollars a month. |

| ->> I am not overwhelmed. The idea is good, but it is not a publication I would hold up as high as the NYT, USA Today, LA Times or IHT yet. It needs to grow, but I feel like I am reading a tabloid type paper, that is trying to pass off as a the must read paper of my day. |

| ->> David, that sounds like exactly same thing I remember people saying about USA Today when it debuted. Dang...how long has it been now? |

->> a funny thought.....
Everyone seems to be underwhelmed with The Daily thus far. I am hearing many of the exact same comments people were making about the iPad when it first came out. YET, everyone is test driving The Daily on their iPad.
interesting... |

->> I too have had the app crash a few times over the past week ... though they did issue an update yesterday and it now does seem more stable and responsive.
I agree that The Daily, in it's current state, may not be the be-all or end-all of the next stage of journalism ... but I do like the direction it is headed ... I really like the fact that photo bylines precede the captions ... and that they are actually paying their content providers ...
I remember all too well when USA Today first came on the scene ... my brother owned a small chain of convenience stores at the time and I helped him out by filling in for some of the store manages while they were on vacation ... Gannet had some growing pains as well ... and they survived and prospered ... Deliveries were not always timely, reproduction quality was not as controlled as one would expect ...
We'll have to wait a little longer to see if The Daily can do as well ... one week is just a bit early to announce the death knell ... |

->> Butch,
Since the update which I downloaded yesterday I believe it does seem more stable and a tab bit quicker.
I think they rushed it out because of all the hype. I do like the daily, and will continue to support it.
Wish my local papers would do something like this. |

->> Eric,
I was far from underwhelmed with the iPad when it came out. The ipad revolutionized how I worked within a week of it arriving in my hands. |

->> I guess I should have read the description via iTunes.
It says on the most recent update to delete it, than reinstall the app. I had just upgraded without doing that.
It now loads, though I will give it a bit to see how much it crashes still. |
