->> Interesting app development that allows rating, tagging of images on iPad ... then syncing back to LR wirelessly via a plugin.

John Nack mentioned on his blog as well ...

... but what is more intriguing is the response John made to the first comment asking why Adobe had not created such a tool: "Indeed, but the time is not yet right to answer. --J."
Could there be something in the pipeline from Adobe as well? ... I wonder ...
For photojournalist/sports photographery ... I wouldn't need a full blown LR workflow ... the perfect iPad app would allow me to import images to the iPad, adjust WB, adjust contrast and crop. Then input some IPTC metadata in a batch method ... copyright, contact, keywords, caption then export via email/ftp to a publication ... then upon my return, sync the work I did on location with my catalog on my main workstation ... you listening John? ...
I do ok on location using Filterstorm to prepare small numbers of images for clients, but it would be much more streamline to do it within a LR compatible solution to save the duplication of effort back in the office ... |

| ->> Butch...interesting...your post brought up a separate but related question: can one calibrate an iPad like you can an LCD? If you're gonna tone and adjust WB, I'm gonna guess you'll need to know your iPad color is accurate. |

->> I really don't think it is a big issue with the iPad ... I find the color rendition to be very accurate visually ... when compared to going by the numbers on a laptop or desktop workstation with the same image processed on the iPad ... would I process images for critical color accuracy on the iPad ... no ... but for uses in printing or web viewing where the iPad screen resolution and color rendition meets or exceeds the medium intended for the final result ... I am comfortable with it ... Using it with Filtersorm ... I've had no complaints from clients ... and a couple of them are really picky at times ...
No, it is not "profiled" or "calibrated" in the truest sense ... but for newsprint and especially for web viewing ... it does a great job ... YMMV |
