| ->> Sorry about the previous thread title, I missed a key. I uploaded some work images taken in the last couple of weeks with the D7000. Looks like it's going to be a good little camera. |

->> I just picked up my D7000 from the local shop today, I was waiting for them to get grips and extra batteries, so I made a full package.
Here's a gallery I did from around the office of quick photos. ISO's listed in the title of each shot. Each photo is color-corrected and resize for 600x400. No post-sharpening, etc:

A few quick notes:
- For larger hands, like mine, the grip is necessary. I'm used to shooting full-body cameras and it definitely feels better with the grip.
- I felt is necessary to assign the AE-L/AF-L button to AF-ON like on my D700 and D2-series cameras. I'm just so used to that button.
- ISO 1600 looks really f-in good! 2000 is really nice too. You start to notice noise at 3200, but even 6400 is usable is certain lighting.
- AF is pretty quick with the right lenses. With my 16-35 f/4 VR, it's super fast in pretty bad, kitchen light, but i haven't shot it in good, daylight yet.
- Camera feels pretty solid all-around. I do still prefer my D700 and D300, but it's pretty good handling too. A tad smaller than above cameras, but it can hold its own.
More notes to come as I shoot in on assignment and for clients. |

->> Those files look really nice Nic...and Chris' video looks really good.
I should be getting mine at the end of the week, and was curious if Nikon is the only one to make the grip, or if anyone could find second-party grips. |

->> Thanks Matt.
So far, I think Nikon is the only one who makes the grip.
Also, what I've found in my limited shooting and not-really testing yet, is that the newer technology and higher MP count seems to out-resolve older lens.
My 80-200 AF-s seems a bit soft and a 50 f/1.4D seems a bit off too, but that seems off on all my cropped bodies, but shines on a full-frame.
Lenses like the 60 AF-s and the 16-35 f/4 are spot on. |
