Photoshelter Keyword Help..
Mark Sutton, Photographer

->> I finally gave up on my Flash driven website (didn’t work on my iPad) and jumped at the chance to get a Photoshelter site. I need help in the BIGGEST way. Here’s a few things I’m struggling with: 1.) How do you add keywords? 2.) How do you change your watermark? I just found out how to change/edit the captions. I’ve been reading and watching videos on their site all morning, but I really-really need some guidance. Thanks for any help! SERIOUSLY!!!!

By the way, I've visited a few sites on here that are using Photoshelter and I am VERY impressed...

->> You should be able to add keywords to your images by going to the archive section, selecting the IPTC tab on the right of the image and then clicking on the keywords themselves to change them. Really simple. Pretty much the same way you change captions. That being said, I prefer to keyword/caption my images in Photomechanic BEFORE I upload to Photoshelter.

To change your watermark, head to the "My Website" tab at the top of the page and then select "Image Security" to access your watermark options. Hopefully that helps.

->> You definitely want to keyword on your local machine/local files.

1) You'll be able to search your hard drives for those keywords and 2) it's faster.

->> You can do what Brian said, or to do a BATCH IPTC EDIT...

Go to Archive List
Select the Folder
Select the images you want (or the whole folder)
Edit IPTC

What is nice with this is that you can keep what you have in your camera, and then add supplemental keywords or anything you want to one image or all of them in a folder.

->> If you have Lightroom and Aperture, start keywording when you import off the card as part of your workflow, will save a lot of time!

->> Mark - a good practice from here on out will be to add keywords and other IPTC information on the initial ingest of your images. PhotoMechanic does this and I'm pretty sure Lightroom and Aperature does too.

->> I do it all the time in Lightroom and PhotoMechanic, I just uploaded a few images I already had on a jump drive from last basketball season to see how easy it was to upload. Then I started playing with it and couldn't find how to change/edit keywords.
