Issues with Mini TT1

->> Woo Hoo! After two years' wait the fine folks at Robert's sent me the Nikon version of the Mini TT1. Hyper-sync here I come!!
Or not.
I've update the firmware (2.10) set all the custom settings in the PW Utility software but the issue I'm having is that above 1/250 sec. the mini doesn't fire AT ALL. I'm not talking about black bands, I'm talking about no flash whatsoever. 1/200--flash, 1/250--flash, 1/320--nothing.
All I want to do is sync my D3s with off-camera strobes above 1/250. I am not concerned about TTL or anything else. I am using the Mini TT1 as the trigger and regular Pocket Wizard Plus and/or MultiMax units as receivers.
Anyone have success using this combo and some tips on what setting I'm missing? After two years of reading every stinkin' thing out there about these units I'm embarrassed to admit my utter incompetence. |

| ->> Hey Matt, I was really excited about the Mini TT1 too, but I have yet to have any luck with hypersync using Dynalite packs and heads, I have played around with settings for hours and finally gave up. General use and battery life with it has been hit or miss as well. I love the small size, but its not nearly reliable as my regular pocket wizards. |

->> Matt,
Do you have the"High Speed Sync (FP Flash Sync) Disable Mode" box checked under sync timing?
If not, I believe it needs to be checked.
I have the Canon version of the Mini TT1 and had the same issue when I first tried to sync my cameras with arena strobes above the usual sync speeds. |

| ->> You might want to make sure you have FP synch enabled on your camera as well. |

->> Nate Billings--next time I'm in Oklahoma City I'll buy you the frosty beverage of your choice. You were correct.
It's awfully un-intuitive to check a box that says "disable" in order to enable a function, but that's what I did and it worked. I can get a black band-free image at 1/320 and only the slightest black band at 1/400. This is with SB-26s as the lights and sync offset to -230. I will keep tinkering but it functions well enough for the time being.
Thanks very much! |

->> Glad I could help.
That box was certainly confusing to me.
I kept thinking to myself, "Yes, I'd like to sync at high speeds. Surely I should not disable that function."
Then I remembered that high speed sync and hyper sync were not the same thing or compatible together with non-TTL receivers. |
