->> Are any other long-time NPS members having problems/issues renewing their membership this year? They seem to be being hardass for no reason. I have been a NPS member since 1982 and can't begin to count the thousands and thousands of dollars I have spent on Nikon bodies, lenses and gadgets. They have a minimal requirement of 2 bodies and three lenses- not too hard for anyone calling themselves a professional. I have more than a dozen lenses and bodies from a D3 through the series to an F3. However, many lenses, bodies are not on some list- like my 300 2.8 AF-S D lens bought 10 years ago but still mint. I applaud them for not letting the pro-sumer $600 camera owners getting a card and borrowing a 400 2.8 from them, but they also need to look at each members history, purchases (all my equipment has a USA warranty and is in their register somewhere).
Anyway, I am not worried about losing my NPS card, but I just don't appreciate getting form emails and generic forms saying I don't comply from a company I have been giving free advertising to for 30 years
For the love of God..this IS NOT a Canon vs Nikon debate so please dont post canon, pentax,minolta and walmart camera users. :) |

I have received two generic emails back. |

I need a sponsor, is anyone here on SS willing to sponsor me?
Thanks |

->> No Problems here either!!
Halfway through me entering my gear in, the program told me to stop, I already had enough gear entered to comply with the minimum requirements, I entered every last piece, just because I'm an idiot!!
Contact Bill like Robert said, I've been a member since 1987 and Bill has always helped me.

->> Like others above me, I had now problems. I have two D300 bodies and a D2s with glass from a 14 to 300 2.8, I had my conformation back in a day. I even struggled getting the stuff all entered.

->> I have been an NPS member for around 25 years. Trying to renew for 3 more years has me in limbo.
I did exceed the requirements. Three of my bodies and four of my lenses are on their "qualified" list, and several others were on their "other equipment" list.
My extensive collection of "non-D" lenses were treated as non-existent by their pull-down lists. This included my 135/f2 DC lens, because it was not the "D" version, and my AF-S 300/2.8 ED IF, because it was not the "II" version. I guess only posers use those lenses.
Additionally, almost every "other equipment" lens that I tried to register, as well as my SB-800 and SB-600 Speedlights were flagged in red as having non-existant serial numbers, even though I was holding them in my hand staring at the numbers that I entered, for verification.
My session ended with a notice that my application will be reviewed. This after around 30 years of Nikon film and digital use. I guess this is the price we pay for taking care of our older gear. |

| ->> I ran into much the same issues as Jon. I sent an e-mail to NPS figuring to follow up with a call to Bill Pekala. Within a few hours, I received a return e-mail that my renewal was approved and I would receive my new card in the mail "sometime in January." |

->> Just so I am not missing anything, NPS renewal is every 3 years correct. My last renewal was in 2009, so I'm thinking I don't have to renew until 2012.
Just wanted to make sure something didn't change. |

"You will have the option for NPS to review your equipment registration further.
Select 'ADD PRODUCT' twice.
Check the box: Serial Number is entered correctly
Select Add the Product.
You may have to do this? |

I was pretty sure the paper hadn't bought me stolen or fake gear! :-) |

->> Eric ..LOL.
They sent me a reminder the other day. I just entered what I had with me equipment wise right then.. Put the serial numbers in that they didn't have a record for.... all the problems listed above. I think I was one qualifying lens short. ( I had more at home but I was trying to get it done...)
I didn't worry. I hit enter. I was approved in less than an hour. Some of you folks just need to relax. Nikon isn't trying to screw anyone. Keep in mind they will lend you thousands of dollars of equipment FREE. They just want their bases covered, too. |
