| ->> I'm shooting the Rockets for the remainder of the season and can't find any information on parking for the media. The Astros let me park in their season ticket holder lot but I can't find anything on the Rockets and my editor doesn't know. |

| ->> The parking garage on the south side is permit only. Perhaps the media office will give you one. If not, and they are very tight with them, there are surface lots available for $10-20. I park in the lot directly across the street from the Admin/Media entrance. Good luck. |

->> Andrew,
The parking garage is fine but I've simply been getting there early. You can pick up your passes starting at 5 p.m. and, if you have parking, head to the garage.
But, as I said, I've just gotten there early. If you get to the area around 4 p.m. or a little later you can park on some of the streets and simply pay at the meter. LaBranch right by the Toyota Center is no-parking on game days, but Clay, Polk and other streets are fair game. I simply have been parking on Clay right across the street from the press entrance and paying less than $2 (usually much less) for the meters which go to 6 p.m. and then are free. Seriously, I'm parking maybe 100-125 feet to the door.
Then I wander up the street to have coffee or browse a bookstore and then head back to the arena at 5.
Part of the reason I go early is to avoid traffic coming in from my neck of the woods and part of it is to find parking that is much closer than the official garage.
And, as Dave said. There are pay lots for $10-20 that are closer than the media garage as well. |
