Been with them for 5+ years with minimal issues. |

->> I was on DreamHost.com and had great service... until I needed something they don't offer. (PHP Server side zip files). They offer no assistance and if you screw something up you are SOL. They were also starting to have a lot more outages and server crashes towards the end of my stay with them.
I've since switched to Site5, who offer great packages, a version of PHP that works for me, and now offers more localized servers... so I can locate my server in Toronto for $1 extra a month. They also move all of your files and databases from your old sites and get you all setup. Small downside is all of their tech support is handled through chat windows, so you can't just call someone up, but for the price, you've got to give something up. |

->> I'm with dreamhost and they're nothing but great for what they charge. Yes, there have been some outages lately but they were quickly solved, no harm done. They also have a nice backup system so in case you screw up with anything you can get all the data back.
Mike, how's the speed with Site5? Compared to dreamhost i mean. |

->> Site5 seemed to be rougly 15-20% faster for me, then got another kick when I moved the server to Toronto.
I will say that I preferred the Dreamhost CPanel, everything was very intuitive to find, but Site5 is in the process of upgrading theirs. |

->> I have worked on websites using IPower and HostMonster, with HostMonster providing better support overall.
Depending on your requirements, you might find one of the photo sites will meet your needs. Places like Zenfolio and Photoshelter can provide most if not all of your needs without the need to build a website. |

Customer service is an A+++ which is why they have been my host for 12 years and counting. If I have a major problem (usually one a year) they have the situation fixed or a solution ASAP. You'll rarely be put on hold and if the person answering the phone doesn't know the answer I get a call or email in an hour from a tech who does. Accidentally delete a file or directory (I've only done this twice since I've been with them)? I had them back online the same day. Highly recommend them for a host. |

->> Godaddy has all sorts of issues. For example, if you use anything AJAX-related (such as contact forms), it gets blocked. They're your standard bottom-of-the-barrel hosting company.
As with anything, you get what you pay for, small shops provide better service, etc. |

->> I hate GoDaddy, except their commercials.
Just started using HostGattor and liking it so far, unlimited storage, has the same interface I'm used to on my other host, pretty easy to use. No complaints so far and they came highly recommended by a lot of others when I asked this question on another board. |

| ->> inmotionhosting.com has worked very well for me for the past 5 years. the email interface is a little odd, but I forward to gmail and it's good. the site supports php, mysql, etc, unlimited storage, a number of email accounts and more ftp sites that I would ever need, domain creation/renewal etc is easy also. customer service has also been with people I can actually understand! |

| ->> Arvixe. Used them since way back when they only had a few servers. Great service and only one outage in around 6 years...for 10 minutes. They're insanely awesome...ive usedmdreamhost as well and it just doesn't compare to the service and uptime at Arvixe. |

->> 1and1.com http://www.1and1.com/?k_id=7319037
Cheap rates and renewals...more email addresses and server space than I will ever use. Never been down that I know of in the 7 years I've been with them. I have 5 different websites under one package for about 6 bucks a month, plus two free domain names included. I signed up for the "Home" package with linux servers.
Great customer service 24/7 straight from India. Plus they have a nice referral program and I get credit if you sign up on the link above. |

->> BlueHost.com
I buy my URL's at godaddy but host everything at BlueHost.
They are cheaper than Godaddy, for one URL but also let me host Addon URL's. Meaning I host all of my domains as well as some for others for the same price of @ $8 a month.
I used 1and1 and left for BlueHost's super simple wordpress install |

| ->> I've been with Host Gator since S2F shut down in 2008 and have no complaints. The few times I've needed support it's taken literally one minute to get someone in a chat or on the phone to get the issue fixed. |

->> I'm not sure what was funny. I have well over 1 million files on my site with unlimited space & bandwidth. We've uploaded 105,000+ files this month so far. No issues to speak of. I've had 4 or 5 outages since moving over from S2F and none of them lasted more than a few minutes.
I don't know about Ajax as my site runs PHP and straight HTML with a few Soundslides shows mixed in. |
