->> With Aperture hitting the Apple App Store at $80 this might be exactly what I'm looking for...is anyone shooting a Nikon D700 tethered to a MacBook Pro using Aperture? If so, I'd like to chat with you for a moment...
Thanks in advance!

| ->> I don't have a D700, but I also haven't heard anyone mention that it doesn't work ... the tethering feature in Aperture is actually driven from the OS and not the app itself ... Apple has been pretty good at maintaining compatibility for nearly all Nikon and Canon DSLR's ... |

->> Delane,
Tethering is very simple with Aperture 3. I have not used it with my laptop, but on a desktop Mac it's as easy as plugging in the USB from computer to Nikon, File>Tether>Start New Session, set your parameters for file storage and that's it. It would expect the exact same results on my laptop.
I have tested it with both the Nikon D3s and Nikon D700. No updates were needed on either camera or the software.
Good luck
Aloha

->> Got it Jordan and Butch!!!
I did have a small issue with the install...had to install the combo update for 10.6.6 for some reason.
Now I need to figure out a workflow (view, select, renaming and archiving).
In a few weeks I start an assignment where I need to shoot a ton a corporate headshots for a client. We're going to make the final selections on-site and I'll need to easily FTP the RAW (NEF) files to my server on a daily basis. |

->> Jordan, have you ever run into an issue where Aperture gives you the beach ball of death while tethered? If so what did you do to fix that?
Delane, I've run into the above issue every so often where tethering from a d700. I have to restart Aperture and restart my session. Not a deal breaker but very inconvenient when shooting portraits. |

| ->> I haven't run into the Beach Ball Syndrome because someone had recommended to change the meter off setting on the camera's menu setting to never (or infinity or whatever it is) when shooting tethered ... it's more of a Nikon thing than an Apple thing ... dealing with re-establishing the USB link when the camera is awakened from going to sleep ... |

| ->> If you can, set the camera to record to the card as well as tether. Canon allows this so I assume Nikon does too. With Canon you have to go into the EOS Utility. |

->> After a conversation with Preston Mack, I've decided to keep in simple and use Sofortbild (www.sofortbildapp.com)...but I don't see a way to keep a copy on the card along with the tethered/transferred image.
I'm shooting Nikon (D700) so I'm not sure it's possible with this camera...
