->> Hi
I have a question about Photo Shelter

How can you have a Folder with a main sunect, and then sub-folders like:-
Example
Tennis (main folder)
Australian Open 2011 > Men:- Round 1 >Q/Final> Final
Australian Open 2010 > Men:- Round 1 >Q/Final> Final
French Open 2010 > Men:- Round 1 >Q/Final> Final

Snooker
World Snooker 2010 > Round 1 > Round 2 > Qfinal>Sfinal> Final
Masters Snooker >Round 1 > Round 2 > Qfinal>Sfinal>

Cos its good to have subjects in the right order with eacg round of event

Ta

Micheal

->> Short answer, you can do it on import, but Photoshelter doesn't let you nest galleries, unless something has changed. You have to create a Collection, say for World Snooker 2010, and drop each folder in there, and it can get messy. Kind of the one thing that bugs me about Photoshelter. If some one else has a solution, I am all ears...

->> The nested gallery folder problem is something that is repeatedly brought up in the forums, but so far they haven't responded to what is a very clear demand from their clients. I know some of the photoshelter bosses are members here and it would be great if they could provide some sort of detailed explanation of why the otherwise superb site has yet to roll out nested galleries. Frankly, the absence of this facility is costing many of its users lost income because photo buyers don't want to roll through thousands of unrelated images.

if you are looking for a pic from a old event, nested gallery is the best way

->> Asked the same thing awhile ago, they said it'd go to the development team as a suggested feature. Not positive but believe they also said something about the structure and how it worked made it not possible in how they have it set up (?), something like that is coming to mind but it was awhile ago.

There's a long list of things I'd like to see changed, but you can't beat them when it comes to SEO and for editorial clients, I don't think any other service compares, so for now I just work around it. Actually for my personal site created a "nesting" page on it and then linked to the categories.

->> You can create folder nests in the Archive Browser and then for each of the folders you create a gallery name that meets your requirements. I don't know if there is any length limit on the gallery name. Within each gallery you can enter the folder name the way you want to describe the gallery and description in the gallery description and in the key wording for each image so people searching for that event can find it.

It may not be the way you were thinking, but I believe the end result would be the same, sharing your images with your clients or having them do a google search for them.

->> Negative Ghost Rider.

The Browser does not translate into the Gallery. Until they nest folders, the only way to ensure your customers can find something specific is to put it into a Collection and keyword the heck out of it.

->> if you do a tennis event, in round one you could have 10 games one day one in round one

Aussie Open 11 > R1 Federer Vs XXXX >R1 Nadal Vs XXXX >
Q Final Federer Vs davis> Nadal Vs Hendry >

No point having a folder with 300 images from 2 weeks of tennis, or too many folders

->> Gallery Collection with one gallery per game should be alright.
Plus most buyers search via keywords and don't browse endless galleries.
