2011 New Years Resolutions

->> My New Years Resolution is This:
Stop using Final Edit Express ... or even editing the video I shoot ... and when I feel compelled to do so, just slam my head into the wall. I tend to get the same results.
Thank goodness the one client I end up shooting video for has a video editor in their art department.
...OK, I should probably just learn to edit from someone else and stop trying to figure it out on my own. |

->> Mine is to get more work and to get out of this hard time my wife and I are having (she being a freelance writer) and living life to it's fullest...a cliché and perhaps even contradictory to some extent but nonetheless.
Positive thoughts and energy.....
Happy New Year. |

->> Not only think different when shooting to make new pictures, but actually act on those ideas for photos as those photos typically end up pretty neat.
Follow up better with conversations when people tell me their potentially interested in me shooting something for them. |

You want my few PKR 120 rolls I just found the other day? I'm not giving up my PKL 35mm rolls though! |

| ->> *Mentor. Mentor. Mentor... (I have a prospective student lined up) and I'm looking forward to truly giving something back to someone just starting out, or looking to break into the business. A lot of good folks at various levels went out of their way in sharing their expertise & encourage me throughout my career, so now it's my turn... Also, more volunteer work with one or more of my international NGO clients. You can't put a price on donating one's time with an organization that provides life changing facial corrective surgeries on children and young adults. ~cg. |

->> 2010 certainly had it's share of challenges; but compared to the two preceding years, was an definite improvement.
I started to get serious about being in shape; 2010 was the year I got more serious about exercising and my running program is now 10-14 miles a week.
For 2011, make sure I do more for the people I love; make sure I learn about video editing and continue to grow my skills in business and photography. Lose the remaining weight I need to lose, and, like Chet, give back more via mentoring to younger people.
Simple goals...... just gotta do it.

->> Chet,
Very nice!
I have been donating my time to the local High School for two years now. I donate one to two weeks per semester, they are on the Block System, so I see new faces every semester, but some come back to the higher classes (I work with Photo 2,3 and 4). This is a very worthwhile thing to do and I want to keep on doing it in 2011. |

->> there is nothing better than mentoring. Seeing the face on a young person with the passion and desire and knowing that in some small way, you did something to help-priceless! Even better-when years down the road you see what they have accomplished and how happy they are-it is the best feeling.
I was actually asked last week why I go out of my way to help people. My response-why not? Why not pay it forward? When I was starting out, I had no one to turn to and not only did I make a lot of mistakes, but there were some tough times.
Happy 2011 everyone |

Happy New Year! |

I can't believe you just typed out that New Year's resolution with a Big Mac in your right hand and your lips slurping down a Coke ... |

->> 1. Cut back on the model glue huffing.
2. Stop dressing up like a clown and wandering around public golf courses, sobbing inconsolably.
3. Finally go through with that transgender surgery.
4. Learn all the swear words in Narau and Klingon.
5. Figure out how much my healthy, white (well, half-white, but he still looks it) baby is *actually* worth on the black market.
6. Spread the rumor that I was once an intern for a Himalayan Sherpa.
7. Do a long-term picture story on a really boring -- and epically average -- Caucasian family, one that has no real problems of any kind and little drama.
8. Figure out what the equation would be to watch Roots over the course of one year (**PS - I'VE BEEN TRYING TO DO THIS FOR LIKE 10 MINS ... ANY MATH NERDS OUT THERE WANT TO HELP ME? THE MOVIE IS ABOUT 34,380 SECS LONG**), then do it, of course.
9. Stop being so snarky on Internet message boards.
10. Be a better me. |

Please don't follow through on 9 or 2. And please do follow through on #3.
And I hear that a certain bounty hunter, as a child, fetched $50,000 on the black market, and those were 1954 dollars. |
