| ->> I am looking at Hensel , elinchrom and maybe profoto if I can find a great deal. Any uses tell me pluses and minuses of these systems. I want a pack and up to 4 heads I am use to balcars so a better mounting system and reliable. |

->> I don't know any system other than Elinchrom, it's all I use and I love them, but other systems may also be like this.
They have daylight color balance, you don't have to discharge them before unplugging/turning off. Elinchrom's have heads that are easy to interchange, if you want to go from a small light strip to a larger softbox, etc. it seriously takes about 5 seconds to change them out. |

| ->> I've got some ProFotos and they are really nice units, bit expensive but I think worth every penny. I like the pro series over the accute versions. I would recommend the regular ProHeads over the Pro-B head since they will work on both the Battery and the AC generators. Also the controls are pretty much the same on either the AC Pack or Battery Pack--less confusion when switching from AC to Battery. Great light and durable units, and great accessories. |

->> I have used all three brands but own Profoto.
Profoto is almost the industry standard for reliability, versatility and availability. It is available at more rental houses than any other system, so if you need something extra you will almost always find it anywhere.
I have nothing but good to say about Elinchrom from my limited use, perhaps just not as ubiquitous as Profoto.
As to Hensel, nice gear, but as of a year or so ago, the dealer network was limited as was repair and replacement parts at least here in the USA. |

->> I have older Elinchroms which I have purchased used over the years. Tough stuff... beautiful light. Bought a lot of it on eBay at very reasonable prices. Having said that...
I suggest you rent product and try each brand out. It's just like buying a camera system.. what works for one may not work for another...
Good luck |

->> What do you want the lights for??
I have been using Speedtron Black Line Packs and heads since the mid 80's and I have accumulated a huge selection of Packs and heads.
I run three live sets in my studio all the time and I love Speedos!!
But the do suck on location, they are big and heavy!! But they are cheap and they are paid for!! |

->> HI Yamil
Location work not studio so speedos are out I do not need that kind of weight. I am looking at a pack and heads maybe some monos to supplement looking at elonchrom 1200 rx and 2400 packs possibly an hensel mini studio 1200 . I like that the elinchroms have a short flash duration. profoto only if I can get a deal as they are expensive. I generally do all my light work here in Idaho no rental houses any where near where I live. |

->> David,
Have you thought about Alien Bees, Einsteins or Zeus Pack & Heads???
With this new Gig I have with Dillon Precision I'm considering going with a set of four Alien Bees AB1600's and a couple of Vagabonds to power them in the middle of the desert or wherever I happen to be shooting at!!
I might play around with the Nikon CLS, but sometimes I want a Modeling light, for those occasions where they might come in handy to see the lighting and as a focusing aid!
I agree, Profoto is getting kind of ridiculous in price. For example, a 2400WS Profoto pack is $11K+

| ->> I have been using Dynalites for decades and after seeing someone using the Alienbees, I went out and bought 2 800's. I recently bought the 1600 as well. Colors with both my Nikons and my husband's Canons are spot on all the time. When we have needed more lights, we brought my Dynalite Uni's and they have worked great together, along with the portable Vagabond. They are coming out with a Vagabond min and I can't wait. |
