->> been searching around and I am a little confused. Can I upgrade from CS4 to CS5 (not buying the entire CS5, just the upgrade) and have the ability to open RAW images form the Nikon D7000, and Canon G12). With the purchase of the upgrade, is it only good for one computer?

->> Debra...
I have upgraded the same way from CS>CS5 and there aren't any issues....
Yes you can upgrade from CS4 to CS5 and everything will work (you might need to download an update afterwards but aside from that it's all good).
I use CS5 on my laptop and desktop (not at the same time obviosuly but it works on both without a hitch).

->> Yes and right now the upgrade is $174 through Adobe's website. Also, you can use it on both your laptop and desktop. Unlike Lightroom it's only for one platform, either PC or Mac.

Or you can download and use the new version for 30 days from Adobe. In the meantime you can buy it from Amazon for $139. Once you get the new key from Amazon all you have to do is enter the license.
Here's the link for the Amazon deal: http://tinyurl.com/2dhbeom
Just make certain you buy the correct platform. |

->> Andrew--
I think you just answered my issue, that is, I have CS3 and desire to upgrade to CS5. As such do I just skip CS4 and go straight to CS5?
I'm also bringing LightRoom 3 into the mix. Which is part of my motivation for going to CS5, so hopefully both will play well with each other and get along without any issues.

->> Steve,
From memory, I think you can upgrade from CS2 or CS3 to CS5.
CS5 is seriously worth the jump though.
As for LR, I couldn't tell you. I've been a ACR user since it was slow and painful and is now quite polished and even that is now super slick.

| ->> Is it less expensive to upgrade through amazon than purchasing direct from Adobe? That doesn't sound right. |

| ->> I would like to take advantage of Amazon's price, but I currently have CS4 Extended. Does anyone know if I can upgrade to "plain" CS5 or do I need the more expensive extended version? |

->> I upgraded yesterday. From CS3 to CS5. Took me 15 minutes.
I had a Dutch version of CS3 and I wanted the English version. When I don't know something and I browse the entire Internet, most of the articles are not in Dutch (Why not, more than 17.000.000 people speak it?)
I was wondering if it was possible to upgrade. I knew it was possible from CS3 (and to answer TS' question again, also from CS4) but I wasn't certain about the language. Called Adobe last week and within 5 minutes I had the answer.
Now I'm still a happy photgrapher, but with an Englisch version of CS5 |
