->> I'm proud to be a new Sports Shooter member. Thank you to T.J. Hamilton for the sponsorship and sideline camaraderie.

As a traditional newspaper (super small paper) sports shooter over the past 5 years I became a bit tired of uber tight crops and lackluster "styling". It served me as a great way to learn the ropes and I'm actually still doing it because I love being on assignment.

Last year I started working with an online high school news sports publication. www.westmiallstar.com It has served me well and the best part is that I showcase my images exactly how I want to display them. Since, I'm a fan of Black and White and story telling imagery many of my shots can be considered loose and maybe overly stylized for traditional publication. I working hard to build a reputation to help build sales which is my basis for being paid. It's an effort to be a premium in the realm of print sales for prep sports. Some events with limited knowledge of me or the web magazine I don't make squat. Others I make a couple hundred. Hoping to improve on this that is for sure!

I'll share a couple of galleries from the past 2 weeks. Thoughts are appreciated as well as info from others doing a similar thing. I love working hard but think its time for some direction to make more of a career of the sports side of things for me. Other areas are not bad at all but sports is my passion.

couple of football...sometimes I just don't dig the black and white when I'm shooting in the dark so a few exceptions to the black and white "rule".

Not meant as attempt to try and "brag". Feedback on the business is desired.

->> The basketball photos you are showing are a good start, I see to many elbows and arm pits. Other action is also part of the game.

I would not show the backs of players as the main focus of your football pix. The yearbook will be proud to use many of the others.
