| ->> I looked in the manual and it does not address this but I looked at zoom's website and they show a cable plugged into the side of a Canon DSLR and plugged into the Zoom Headphone jack. My question is does this sync the audio with the camera or what is the purpose of this cable? |

So. yes. it does provide the ability for the camera to record the audio that the Zoom has coming into it, thus syncing the audio with the video. HOWEVER, the main advantage of using a Zoom is to gain the ability to record cleaner audio than what the camera can handle. There have been instances where the audio quality of the camera isn't up to par with where it should be. Depending on your project, it may be acceptable, or it may not. You would always be able to simultaneously record an audio track on the Zoom and the camera and if the camera's audio track is sub par, then you can go to the Zoom's track and use it instead. |
