LiveBooks email and Droid X

->> For those Droid X users who also access their email via their Livebooks', I'm hoping someone can help me out.

Just purchased a Droid X and I've configured my email account as per LiveBooks support, (incoming IMAP, outgoing SMTP). I received a 'successful account setup' notification however receiving and sending email remains a completely random thing.

I might have 5 emails showing on my computer but the phone says 'no messages.' Then, later in the day, the phone notifies me I have a couple new emails. Same with outgoing messages - They may or may not actually send when I hit the button. Then, a couple hours later, one mysteriously arrives at the intended destination.

Admittedly, I am not a big brain when it comes to technology but I can usually solve these sorts of glitches... Not this time. Can anyone shed some light on this?

->> Dan - I have the DroidX and use Livebooks (actually have two sites and two emails). I have not had the problems you have encountered with either of my LB emails but I do have problems with some emails and texts getting thru when I am in the extended network (not 3g) AND I have a very low signal strength. When I get into 3G coverage, all my little txt/email quirks disappear.

My instinct says that if some emails are going thru, then your IMAP/ SMTP settings are likely right and there is something not quite right with the way the phone and the network are "talking" to each other.

Wish I could offer more insight...

SettingsL Location and Security - you can set it to upload/download/connect by connection type. You may not be connecting all the time like you think.

There is also a setting that determins how often you sync. Can't seem to find it right now, but I know it has various settings in minutes and hours.

->> Thanks for the tips guys. I've checked and rechecked settings on the various menus but perhaps I'll take another peek. In the mean time, I found I can route my email through Gmail which seems to be working pretty well. But that seems like a band aid.

I hate being on the road and feeling like I'm only partially connected. I have no idea what I'm missing... Maybe I oughta just appreciate it.

->> Same problem here. My AOL and .me mail flow right in. Receiving Livebooks mail is randomly spotty and outgoing is nonexistent. I have checked and rechecked settings and they are all in order. I don't want to route LB mail through gmail because it kills my brand. Will continue to watch here to see if some young techno wiz has a solution.

->> I don't have livebooks email, but solved a couple things I didn't care for by logging on directly to my email server using an online interface instead of an "account" manager type of thing on the Droid.

Is that an option for you Livebooks users?

What I didn't like was the Droid would retrieve the email and not leave it on the server for me to later get on my computer, where I archive things. I'd have to send it back to myself.

Using the online login through the browser lets me look at my inbox, read my mail, reply and save it for later retrieval on my main computer.

->> forgot to add that I am not using the onboard email client that Motorola provides. heard too much bad stuff about it. I am using K-9 Mail which came with glowing reviews and I have loved it so far. Maybe try to download this email app and see how it works for you?
