->> The past couple of days I been shooting photos with a Lexar Professional 2gb card. I have taken photos, looked at them on the back just to make sure everything is ok. Turned off the camera, then turned it back on hit the play button, no photos are there. When opening the folder on the computer to transfer the photos, the folder is empty. I'm able to recover the photos with card rescue. I've reformatted the card through the camera. Any suggestions?

->> It sounds like a defective card. Have you tried it in another camera?
Did you happen to get the card at a really good price on eBay? I got burned by a counterfeit card on eBay once... I had nothing but problems with it and I threw it away. |

->> Curtis-I've been using it for some time. It just started acting wacky a few days ok. It was purchased from Lexar probably two years ago (I think)

->> I'd call Lexar, they'll replace it. They are usually pretty quick about it to.

->> Good luck with that Lexar warranty. The last time I got thru to their online help folks, they acknowledged the card(s) in question would be covered. If I had the receipt proving purchase. Right.

->> Dave, I've had them replace cards with no questions asked. Ok, they did ask if I had tried to reformat and a few other technical things but when I answered I had tried it all they said simply, send it to us and we'll send a new one.

->> George - at this point, I'm not at all sure I need to have any 256Mb cards replaced...

->> Trying hard not to sound too negative, reminds me of a former colleague of mine back in the floppy disk days:
"I can't get my document off this disk, help!"
"The disk might have gone bad...."
"What? I've been using it for three years with no problems!"
These things do wear out...and fail...over time. And if it's the line I think it is, it is the low end of Lexar's offerings. Not to mention almost nobody makes 2GB cards any more...it may be older than you think. |

->> Dave, those 256 cards are great -- if you need to take two frames.

->> My experience, cards fail after time. Lexar gave me the run around and eventually replaced the card with a refurb unit - it's in a drawer somewhere. Sandisk replaced the card with a brand new one, no hassle. Needless to say all my cards are Sandisk now.
