Best Rechargeable Batteries
Eric Jones, Photographer
Greenville | NC | USA | Posted: 9:51 PM on 11.29.10
->> I've been going through batteries like crazy at weddings and now it's time to buy the rechargeable batteries. Can you recommend a good brand that will hold a good charge as right now I don't mind paying for a good brand. Someone mentioned Lenmar but wasn't sure what everyone was using. Thanks for any feedback/comments.

Thanks
Eric

->> Check out Powerex batteries with MAHA charger, sold by Thomas Distributing online. I bought the 8-battery charger and several 4-packs of batteries a few years ago and have been very happy. I haven't used a non-rechargeable AA in my flashes since then, and they've never let me down. Seems expensive at first, but they pay for themselves in short order, and better for the environment too. And no, I'm not associated with them, just respect a good product.

->> I'm using both Powerex and Eneloops. Both are fantastic. The powerexs last a little longer in the flashes, but the Eneloops are great for spares in the camera bag.

+1 on a good charger being important. I'm currently using two of these.

->> The Maha MH-C9000 charger is fantastic. Very customizable. 4 independent slots (each can be set to a different function. each with selectable charge/discharge rates).

Five modes of operation
* Charge:
* Refresh & Analyze: at the end gives you the actual battery characteristics allowing you to put together matched sets.
* Break-In:
* Discharge:
* Cycle:

->> You will love the charger that is for sure. I use the Powerex and not positive that the Enloops but I highly recommend draining and then recharging the batteries at least 3x before bringing them to something important. I believe some of the chargers actually have this cycling process.
