->> Anyone here ever shot this event?
I have been shooting motorsports for around 18 years, and have always wanted to shoot this event. Problem is, all my work has been in advertising, not editorial, so I have no contacts for this type of event.
Any input or info would be great.
Thanks

->> Thanks to all who sent me PM's with helpful info.
I am assuming you actually looked at my web site and learned a little about me before responding.
I guess nearly 20 years of shooting professionally on location all around the country for national ad campaigns is not enough experience for some of those here.
As I stated in my first post, editorial work is something new for me, not photography. I simply joined up here to get some help with the editoral side of the business, as it is totally different from the advertising side.
I have worked with and directed many of the top racers in the world at tracks all around the country, just not at a news worthy event. I figured I would join here to help others as well as learn a different side of the business.
Is this not a place to share professional ideas, contacts and info? |

| ->> david, sorry...you kind of have to have been here for a while to understand some of the responses. not your fault...it's getting to be one of those "not so inside jokes". check out some of the threads about asking how to get credentials to big events.....also to be honest it seems odd that someone such as yourself who has your background and who has "worked with and directed many of the top racers in the world at tracks all around the country" would not know how to get information about this event. cheers! |

->> Again. Its a different beast. This event is not in the country, and all my contacts are here in the US, and have nothing to do with the races. Also, doing the freelance work I do, I just get called up and go shoot. All the production work is handled by the production houses I shoot for.
And yes, I have ideas on getting info for the event, asking here is just one of them. I have many calls and e-mails out and am just posting here as another possible way to get helpful info. |

->> David,
If you wanted to shoot this, I'd just call around to motorsports magazines to see if they'd want you to cover it. If they like your previous work, then, hopefully they will credential you to shoot it. If not, you're probably gonna be out of luck. |

->> My editorial work has been kind of slow, I think I'll try my hand at advertising photography.
Anyone know how I can get into a modeling shoot? Do I call the models, or the magazine, or the advertiser? |

->> David,
Welcome to SS. As a long time lurker, I've discovered that information here can be compared to finding gold nuggets.
It's worth a lot and can change your life, but you have to be willing to go a long time without finding any and sift through a ton of crap in order to get to it.
Good luck, there's a lot of really great info here. |

I thought you started at the Nazareth Times as a cub photog back in 1 BC? |

Sure it wasn't a bit earlier. I thought it was the 'Rock & Quarry Gazette'. I read somewhere you can still view his early in several caves and in-ground dwellings. |

Hold on ... I gotta get some icy hot on my knees and back to get up so I can get my glasses to read your post ...
... OK so you're saying you're like Bob Ross, but your medium is cave walls?
Anyway, what was it like working for newspapers before paper was invented? |
