Remembering Rosenblatt Stadium: KUDOS to Matt Brown

->> After reading Mike Greenlee's wonderful story on the video project he and Matt Brown did on Rosenblatt Stadium I am kicking myself (even harder than usual!) for not getting to Omaha for the College World Series before they "retired" the place.
Matt and I have talked a lot about Rosenblatt Stadium over the years and what the place and the College World Series means to Omaha.
The video really nailed home that point.
KUDOS to Matt and also to Mike for the cool project...and for sharing their passion for the college baseball in the Sports Shooter Newsletter story.

->> The CWS was the first "big" event I covered doing it for my college paper back in the film days working with John Gapps III and his AP crew in a makeshift darkroom in an office off one of the locker rooms.
I had the time of my life doing that and met many great photographers which gave me contacts to set down the road I followed into freelance and wire shooting. It holds special memories for those reasons.
Nice to see this project marking the end of an era as the CWS moves to "better" things. |

| ->> Bert thanks for the nice words. George you said brother! I only wish my son Grant and old friend V.J. Lovero would have gone. My son wanted to go see what his father had been talking about for years. I tried to get V.J. to go for years to see his old team Cal State Fullerton play at the Blatt. V.J. went to CSF and never got the chance to go to Omaha. You can have every other sporting event on the planet and send me to the CWS and Rosenblatt every year. I have made some great photos and better friends over the years and will missing the stadium. |

| ->> Matt, I haven't been back to the CWS since then but it is one of those events I would go back to "just to go back to" without an assignment, just to hang out and watch some good baseball. |
