| ->> Most likely, he stole those photos off ebay. I believe this is one of those cash-only deals where they rob you at the meeting point... or the used Canon market is totally crashing in Ohio. |

->> And I'd make sure at least of one of the police cars in the parking lot had an officer inside, that can run the serial number to see if it's stolen, as well as the D/L of the seller.
I've heard that if it is stolen the owner can reclaim it, and you're out the $1,800. (best case there, is that you're not charged with recieving stolen property.)
Could be somebody that bought a bunch of stuff, decided not to pursue photography and doesn't realize how little the price of glass drops on the used market.
But I'd put my money (if I had any) on it being a robbery attempt. |

->> I agree with Peter... Do the deal at a police station... If the seller is legit he/she will not care.
Go to the station a little early and go in and speak with one of the officers. Fill them in and I'm sure they will be happy to help. |

| ->> Does the seller even know what the 1:4 means on the lens. Most, if not all, photographers would type f/4 instead. |

->> I am sure this thing is bogus, haven't heard from the buyer yet and guessing i will never see the lens or meet this guy. I appreciate the concern and emails and on the odd chance this somehow ends up being real I won't show up alone.
There is no way it isn't stolen. There are plenty of great camera stores in Columbus (Midwest Photo Exchange) that would give him more than $1800 for that lens. If this guy was really the owner he would have headed to High street and made more that $2k for this lens. |
