Business Card Printing

->> Who are you currently using to print your business cards?
Three or so years ago I ordered a large batch from Overnight Prints and was very happy with the results. I recently reordered the same design from them but the cards look awful. The blacks are dark gray and there is some sort of banding issue. They reprinted for free but the reprint looks just as bad.
Any other suggestions?
Thanks. |

->> +2 on Overnight Prints. do a search of coupon codes for OP and you should find some for 100 free business cards (full color, single-sided) or up to 30% off on any order. they do a really good job.

->> I had an issue with overnight prints on my first order too. However, it was my own fault. I made my design in Illustrator using CMYK color and didn't set my black to true CMYK black. For instance, a "black" swatch may not really be :
C - 0%
M - 0%
Y - 0%
K - 100%
When I did that for my next round, the blacks were much better. The only issue I actually had was that they cram so many cards into the box (for the 1000 cards) that the ones on the end have a bit of an indentation. I figured I'd use those to stick in my wallet since they get a little beat up there anyways.
If you wanted to switch companies, I have heard good things about www.vistaprint.com. |

->> You can get a very fast turn around and shipping time from M13 graphics (www.M13graphics.com). They are in Schaumburg. I just ordered mine on Monday and got them Wednesday, just in time for an assignment tonight.
They offer glossy on both sides which was something I wanted. Vistaprint does not offer both sides.
After you place your order you can have them call you to talk with you about any issues with the file you sent. Any confusion is easily fixed.
M13 is a bit more expensive but they know what they are doing and I trust them more than a more automated system. |

->> I recently had a graphic designer friend of mine (courtesy plug: http://christopherlkelly.com/work.html) design a new business card for me, and he went with a vendor out of Hong Kong that did a ridiculous job for an equally ridiculous price — 1000 cards, double-sided, custom finish with rounded corners for 70 bucks.

Check out some of the options available for business cards. It'll definitely get you thinking about designs you've never even dreamed of.
I had previously gone with Overnight Prints — they do a fine job, don't get me wrong — but they can't compete with Print100. |

| ->> I have used Overnight Prints in the past. They have messed up my colors, but made a new batch for free. However the last set I ordered was off center and just horrible. I didn't even bother to call them. I just trashed my order and decided ordering over the internet was no longer for me. I took my design on my thumb drive to a local print company and hired them. The cards came out perfect. It took less time and cost about the same. |

->> Well, I went "artsy" and I order prints from MOO.
They do recycled, thick cards, and you can upload pictures and they will print different pictures on each card for you. It's a cool way of having a mobile portfolio with your contact info on the back.
I also use them for little gifts to clients with their pictures on them - and then naturally it's got your contact info on the back. They show them off, circulate them for you, etc.
