| ->> Yea, check out Photobiz.com. They have a barrel full of templates already designed that are customizable and already setup for a photographer. It's dirt cheap compared to paying someone to design your own site. You are more than welcome to view my portrait site which is a Photobiz site to see if you might like it. The Url is www.RussErbePhotography.com. BTW, if you decide to go with them, please use me as a referal. I get a credit for referring folks. Let me know if you have any questions about how it works. |

->> Yuli,
I would have to recommend Livebooks.com. I know people always are talking about them, but I have loved my site from day 1, and livebooks is great at SEO.

Yes they are flash, but they have a shadow html page, so that it gets picked up in google and other search engines.
They are clean and fast websites. |

| ->> I'm going to concur with Mark - more often than not, flash-based webites are simply annoying to use. Lots of people still have slow connections and waiting for flash to load/run makes them exit. It can be difficult to implement successfully. |

->> I have a site already and it needs minor tweaking. I'm not familiar with Flash and that's how my site was built. I paid hefty money last year and would like to hire someone to tweak couple things around for me.
thanks everyone for your inputs! |

->> thanks Yuli....if you only need tweaking to the site you might check http://scriptlance.com
you can post the work you are looking for and people/ web designers will post back to you....how long it will take, and also how much it will cost.
Its completely free, so there is no risk. Also if you don't put a budget people will bid one another and you get your work done fast and cheap. (make sure to check peoples rating some are lazy and dont get the work don, but others are great) |

Joe - I mean no disrespect, but I found this curious. How do the photographers here feel - considering how protective people are about keeping rates for photographers up at a high level. How is this any different - trying to get freelance "pro" to provide a product/service on the cheap.
Does it really matter if "pro" is a web designer or a photographer? Just curious if other members here who are vocal about protecting the rate levels of photographers are going to be equally vocal about protecting rate levels of other professions. Specifically, if the "going rate" for the work the poster needs done is $1500 and they find a novice web designer with decent resume willing to do it for $150 should the person refuse that offer out of respect for the web design industry?
Note: I mean no disrespect to you Joe - personally I think we all look for the cheapest solution when we need something. It just seems like people expect that somehow photography should be one are that should be protected from that behavior. |

->> My grandfather, who was a businessman most of his life, gave me one of the most concise yet useful pieces of advice to tell clients:
Tell your clients you can do all of these things:
- Do the work right
- Do the work fast
- Do the work cheap
Now tell them they can pick two. |

->> Ya....I see your point....but I don't have thousands of dollars to spend on webwork. I have a very limited budget, and this website is were I have found the cheapest prices.
You go to walmart/ costco/ samsclub right? Its like that but for website work.
Please keep in mind that this site is built around negotiations and its a simple tactic I use to get a fair price. I am not forcing anyone to do cheap work....I just happen to chose the cheapest bidder most of the time ;) |

| ->> I completely understand Joe. It's just that people wanting photos often choose the lowest bidder - sometimes that's someone just willing to work for sideline access. They don't have an unlimited budget, so what's wrong with that? |

| ->> I use Photobiz and I have both Flash and HTML. I have a splash page and the viewer can choose which they like and it allows me to have the same SEO as someone with just an HTML site. It also allows folks with non flash enabled things like Iphones to view my site. The way I see it, I've got the best of both worlds. Best of all, to add the HTML site, it cost me a whopping one time fee of $45! |

->> I'd stay away from flash if I were you, not very SEO friendly at all. I'm a bit surprised no one has mentioned Photoshelter.com I've been using them for years, clients can get images direct, and they once again rolled out some new features, including portfolios, and a pretty cool photo wall for your mainpage.
Here's a quick look, and you'll see how the portfolios almost act like a flash based system, but they are not. Best part it's huge on SEO, can't tell you how many clients I've picked up from searches. I also integrate my blog with it as well with a graph paper press wordpress theme. I'd suggest taking a strong look.

Laia made my site completely my own, taking in all my suggestions and putting her own artistic touch on everything. From the graphic design to the coding, she does it all...
