The NPPA ID & Some Humour

->> I was photographing a TSA/DHS "Threat Level" poster the other night at Dallas Love Field when I was approached by two Dallas Police Officers who asked for an ID. I had the NPPA ID on a lanyard when one took a look at it and said "The National Press Photographers Association? What is that, for reporters?"

I was trying not to laugh when his partner looked at him and said "Reporters? Its for press photographers you idiot." With that, they both left with the partner still laughing all the way down the ramp.

If you've read my blog over the past two weeks ... I think I am ahead by more than 1. I've been digging into the Federal Air Marshals, Part II raised some hackles ... Part III has been put off by the air cargo bomb issue. The DHS is ignoring all my enquiries, while I post quotes from Dept of Defense terrorism analysts that are generally contrary to US Gov't official statements and some commentary from a USAF-DoD liaison that puts the DHS back in the "dog & pony show" frame of view ... again setting up a lot of hackles.

I may have no spelling or grammatical skills, but I can get my aviation security info pretty easily, ahead of most 'mainstream media" since I cover it constantly (and the TSA coming to my house in Dec actually made it easier to get info from inside sources).

I've written about air cargo security a few times over the past two years and in August tore into the "100% cargo screening law" poking holes in it that you could drive a truck through.

But anyway ... I thought the interaction with the Dallas cops was pretty darn funny :0)
