Problem with CF card
William Guerro, Photographer

->> I have a Lexar Pro 300x 16GB UDMA card, less than 1 year old, that when formatted only shows 1.99GB Available. Anybody ever had a problem like this or have any suggestions on how to fix this problem if it can be fixed.

->> Any chance it's an older camera that only supports FAT16?

->> Try a reformat in computer.

Sounds like they are getting formatted, as Kevin said, FAT16 which supports only 2GB.

->> Even reformatting in the computer, you may still have to specify fat32. Some software will format to the same filesystem type as was previously installed.

First thing on google, not sure how well it'll work:

->> I fixed the problem. I have a Macbook pro with windows installed. After booting up in Windows. I plugged in the problem (1) 16GB & (3) 4GB cards that I have. The 16GB showed a FAT32 already formatted. But I reformatted the card for FAT32, it showed the 14.8GB available on the card. When I put the card back into my D3s it still only showed the 2GB capacity. I reformatted it in the Camera and it was back to showing the full 16GB capacity.

I had to do the same will all of my 4GB cards and they worked after doing so. Though when I put the 4GB cards into the computer they showed only FAT formatting, I had to change them to the FAT32.
