D3 - Exposure question & advice
Ken Charnock, Photographer
Mooresville | NC | United States | Posted: 11:18 PM on 10.18.10
->> I having some intermittent exposure problems with one of my D3 bodies. It has happen twice in 1 week, here are the facts:

D3 body with 300 2.8
Aperture priority mode (aperture set at 2.8)

If I start taking a series of images the first 1to 2 images are exposed properly but the next 5 or 6 are 2 to 3 stops over-exposed. I take another series of images and the same thing happens again.

Anyone have or had this problem? I'm not sure if it is a camera or lens issue? I have not tried the body with a different lens.

Thanks for any suggestions. I'll be sending both back to Nikon (NPS) but just wanted to see if anyone else has had a similar problem.

Ken

->> Have you checked to see if your auto bracketing is on? The pattern sounds like it could be auto bracketing.

->> Rodrigo is correct. Very easy to accidentally set the auto bracket feature on the D3. Almost sent a D3 into Nikon until I rechecked and discovered it had been set. Be sure to double check that the bracket feature isn't on.
