->> While it certainly got pretty high, "space" or "outer space" starts at 50-70mi above the Earth's surface (depending on definition used).

I did something similar in July with a couple of GoPro video cameras that went 100,000 feet into space for a story for my newspaper

Actually the aerospace students at the University of Michigan did and my GoPro's were along for the ride in addition to other video cameras I used on the ground to tell the story.

Still amazed that two tiny cameras survived not only the trip up to 100,000 feet but the 60 below zero temp that high up and the fast trip back down.

Their video of earth was so crystal clear compared to mine. I had fogging issues up that high.

I'm sure it's an experience those little kids will always remember
